The WeChat Channel operates similarly to 'TikTok,' but it exists within the WeChat ecosystem itself. There's no need to install a separate application for it; you can access the Channel directly through your WeChat account.
This feature serves as a valuable addition to your existing Official Account and Mini Program, enhancing your ability to attract and expand your follower base.
Upon successfully creating an account, you can create and distribute diverse types of content, which encompass:
Videos: You can upload videos that span up to one hour in duration or occupy a space of up to 2GB in size.
Photos: You're able to upload a sequence of up to nine pictures in succession.
In your video content, you have the capability to integrate keywords using the '#' symbol, furnish links to Official Accounts (OA) and Mini Programs (MP), and even incorporate location information.
Channel’s viewers can like, comment on, and share videos. They can also choose to follow the channel account. What’s interesting is that when your friend likes a video on the channel, that video will be recommended to you. You can find it in your Discover > Channel tab.
This functionality contributes to the expansion of brand visibility for companies, facilitating connections and engagement with fresh audiences beyond their present followers.
Before you create your account, ensure the Channel feature is available on your WeChat under Discover. If it’s hidden, you can go to Me > Settings > General > Manage Discover > Channels and ensure that all toggles are switched to green.
At the moment, you could only sign up for a Channel Account on WeChat using a Chinese phone number. However, Tencent has now introduced the Channel Account Polar Star Newcomer Support Program. This special program allows people with overseas phone numbers to sign up for a Channel Account too.
To create your Channel account, you’ll need to follow the steps for either iPhone or Android. Please choose one of the options below and follow the instructions.
After successfully creating your WeChat Channel account, you'll gain the ability to upload/record short content or engage in live streaming. Moreover, through the WeChat Channel Dashboard, you'll have access to the following functions:
